⊨ {{golem}} “x=y, x≠y” originated as a black and white photograph of a singular subject pointing up at a mathematical statement of symbolic logic. Inscribed across the subject’s forehead is the Hebrew word אֱמֶת or “truth,” the formula that breathes life into loam in Jewish lore. When אֱמֶת is carved into the skull of a loam figurine, it becomes an animated golem. The artist used the numeric value assigned to each Hebrew character to adjust the visual data of the image as sound with echoes and phasers. The aurally manipulated incantation was then re-inscribed in the image, vivifying the subject in technicolor motion.
