{{sin}}

{{sin}} is a photographic portrait of the subject edited as sound. Whereas {{portrait}} = voice translates a visualization of the subject’s voice into her portrait, {{sin}} extrapolates her image into sound and then retranslates her appearance through its audio interpretation. The disparate visualizations of the subject in {{portrait}} = voice and {{sin}} illuminate the gulf between the subject’s own voice and the voice conjured by her appearance in the machine. The subject’s digital form is processed through divisions of her sensorial impression. We view her as if through a fragmented crystal—her image shifts according to which part of her is fed through the looking glass.
